Optical platform

 

The Optical platform is a "bench" that facilitates the fixation of the Ivium ModuLight at a precise distance from the illuminated object. Both the positioning clamp of the ModuLight and that of the object/cell can be moved along the length of the bench for optimal positioning. The bench is equipped with a distance scale in cm/mm.

The Optical platform is constructed from aluminium and has sufficient weight to ensure its stability. The positioning clamp for the cell can be adjusted in height by manually positioning the vertical rod, and is also equipped with a rotating ring for fine-tuning of the height.

Optionally included with the Optical platform is a water jacketed 40ml glass cell that fits the cell positioning clamp. The glass cell is equipped with a quartz glass window to allow the light to pass through. A lid with a sealing ring is provided with 3 openings for the counter electrode, reference electrode and working electrode.
Included with the cell are a Pt-counter electrode and a Teflon working electrode-holder with Pt-contacts.

Battery holders

 

To facilitate easy connection of batteries for testing, Ivium offers two types of battery holders:

1) For connection to the cell cable

  • for Coin cell
  • for AAA cell
  • for AA cell

Each battery holder connects to the standard Ivium cell cable via 4mm banana sockets for a 4-electrode connection (WE, S, CE, RE) and GND. The size is the same as that of the new Ivium TestCell1:

2) For direct connection to the cell connector

There are four different battery holders available for direct connection to the cell cable connector of the potentiostat:
 

  • for Coin cell
  • for AAA cell
  • for AA cell
  • for 18650 cell

Each battery holder connects directly to the potentiostat cell cable connector. The size depends on the type, maximum dimensions:

MCF cell

 

Ivium Technologies has developed a magnetic cell that can be clamped to any (steel) surface. A soft silicon seal prevents leakage, so that the cell can be used in any position, horizontal, vertical or up-side-down.
The MCF cell is constructed from durable materials and can also be used in the field. Among its applications are corrosion studies and EIS-measurements on coatings.

The MCF cell itself contains a stainless steel electrode; the surface the cell is clamped to, can be used as working electrode. If the surface is not electrically accessible, for example in case of coating measurements, a second MCF cell is included to create a full electrochemical cell.

The MCF cell can be filled using a syringe and tube (included) and additional portals are available for the use of reference electrodes.
